Sleep

This weekend I have slept about 24hrs. Yes, that's right, I've slept as much as I have been awake. Actually, more. I'd need to stay up till midnight to have been awake as long (which I might be).

There's something wrong with me. Probs a stomach bug or something, but my body has decided to sleep it off. Hopefully I'll be better this week, coz I need to knuckle down with my uni stuff.

Well now...

So, I've been suffering from ever-mounting levels of stress. So much so that I haven't been to classes properly in over a fortnight (a new someone in my life has helped the last fortnight be good tho.)

Everything just piles up, doesn't it? You get to needing a break quickly...

Any ideas for breaks?
Or income-sources? those might be nice too....

So I haven't posted since the 4th, so I guess I should cover the rest. What happened? We keep on having some issues with a class (not gonna say which, those who need to know, know.)

My health issues are slolwy dissappearing, thankfully. (Gradually. I still need to be careful with my stomach)

Nothing eventful really happened till the weekend just past. Me and Will went down to Kilwinning/Saltcoats to give Kenny a hand with a radio station's computer system. Good weekend, and I made a really good new friend.

Going to try to keep this updated more, but obv, I need to remain interesting. (ok, ok, START being interesting.)

As has been the trend with my posts, I've done something with my laptop. It's now running XP only.

Just happenings

Well... since my last post I have got Kubuntu onto my system (dual-boot) and also have a Ubuntu server in my room. (though not facing the internet yet)

I have also decided to start Cosplaying. (for those who don't know, it's eesentially Halloween, for conventions. Generally video game or anime characters, though not always. Master Chief anyone?)
My first costume shall be Alucard from the "Hellsing" Manga.

Uni has started back again. We're advancing our Java in a couple classes (I actually get it now!!), we're starting Haskell, which looks really nice to me. I liked PROLOG when I did it, and Haskell is liek PROLOG with numbers.

C++ waits till next semester...... And I ain't looking forward to it.

Oh yeah, and my GURPS campaign should start in the next couple weeks hopefully (maybe start of November) and anyone who cares can visit my site for details. (Join the forums if you wanna ask anything)

And finally, the weekly Console gaming sessions will start again from this week! yay! more gaming!! good times. [=

How to Crash Vista on a dual-core Processor.

Now, granted, there are plenty of ways to crash this......... fine, fine OS, but I managed to make it freeze, and actually recovered!

What was I doing? Firefox w/ 3 tabs, Windows Media Player, Defragmenting my Hard Drive and creating a 7-Zip archive from a USB Device (my old HDD Walkman, which I now use for removable storage).

Vista coped with that all fine. What went wrong was when I, in quick succession, opened a bookmark in Firefox, started another archiving process, also from the Walkman. Oh yeah, and I lost my net connection just as Firefox connected to the site it was opening.

See, what I forgot was that, even with both archiving processes in "background" mode, they were still using 700,000K Memory, or thereabouts. Put it this way: Firefox is using more than it should right now, and it is at 116,264K.

Even on a 2GB RAM laptop, Vista eats enough of that idling that you can't do this.

I need to get Ubuntu onto my machine...
